SIS Frankfurt is a state-approved Ersatzschule (an Ersatzschule provides courses and qualifications comparable with those offered at German state schools). Students attending SIS Frankfurt automatically meet the German requirements for compulsory school attendance.
Please note the following important information:
- At SIS Frankfurt, curricula, grading systems, promotion regulations, etc. comply with the requirements for Hessian state schools.
- For admission to SIS Frankfurt the student must fulfil German public school admission requirements for the corresponding school level. Attendance is compulsory in the reception programme. That means compulsory school attendance is a requirement as soon as your child enters the reception programme at SIS Frankfurt, even before reaching 6 years of age.
- Until SIS Frankfurt has been granted full state recognition, it cannot issue official progress reports or primary school recommendations. Progress reports and primary school recommendations issued by SIS Frankfurt during this period provide general guidance only. However, these reports are usually accepted as relevant, when transferring to other schools.
- If a student of SIS Frankfurt wishes to transfer to a public school or a state-recognised private secondary school (Gymnasium or Realschule), an entrance examination is usually not required.
For further information regarding the status of the school and on regulations for admission and transfer to and from other schools, please contact the principal.
