Empowering Students to Become Lifelong Learners

SIS Frankfurt Secondary School (as of 2023/24 starting with Year 5) prepares the students for two attractive school-leaving certificates – the German Abitur and, if desired, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma*. With the German Abitur and the IB Diploma, there is no limit to the educational opportunities our students can pursue.

Secondary School Curriculum

At the SIS Frankfurt bilingual, private secondary school we teach according to the Hessian core curricula and syllabi for the nine-year secondary school.

Bilingual Secondary School

At SIS Frankfurt English and German are given equal importance, both as languages of instruction and interaction. Each subject is usually taught in one language – either in English or in German – for the duration of one school year. However, great care is taken to ensure that our students acquire subject specific terminology in both languages and that the subjects are taught equally in German and English as far as possible.

In addition to the ability to intuitively participate in multilingual lessons, our students also acquire solid and hands-on IT skills.

Multifaceted Learning

Art and sports, as well as learning in an international community, form an integral part of our school routine.

Students and teachers representing many different nationalities, cultures and languages live and learn together at our school. We encourage our students to be aware and respectful of cultural, social, physical and linguistic differences. A variety of cross-grade activities on the topics such as internationality and global citizenship help open our eyes to the world and to expand our horizons.

Abitur and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)

Students will graduate from SIS Frankfurt with the Hessian Abitur. In addition, SIS Frankfurt plans to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in grades 12 and 13 and seeks official recognition as an IB World School. The accreditation will be applied for well in advance of the start of the upper classes.

Benchmarking Tests

Our students take national and international benchmarking tests in mathematics, German and English on a regular basis. The test results facilitate teachers in the performance analysis and enable management to benchmark our school against other institutions. Students also participate in international competitions in mathematics, history and other subjects.

Status of the School

Our secondary school will have the status of a state-approved private school at the beginning.

Student Life

Spaces that Invite Learning and Activities that Unterpin Our Culture of Learning

We are convinced that the place where students learn has a decisive influence on how they learn. We therefore place great importance on an open school space that provides a welcoming atmosphere to students, staff, parents and guests alike, thus creating a pleasant overall environment. We cultivate multiple signature school events and regularly participate in activities that involve all SIS schools around the globe.
