Saiqa Liaqat is an experienced educator and Principal with over 24 years’ experience as an outstanding educator and leader in schools. She has held a variety of leadership positions, including work as a Principal, Executive Headteacher, leadership coach, Director of Education and is also trained as a school inspector.

Ms Liaqat was inspired to become a teacher and leader because of the opportunity to change other people´s lives. Her aim as the Principal is to ensure students at SIS Berlin have the opportunity to flourish both academically and personally. She believes in helping them to develop the skills, self-esteem and confidence necessary for future success and thus produce thoughtful, happy, kind, well-rounded young men and women ready and prepared to make their mark on the world.

Originally from Barcelona, Maria has lived overseas for 10 years. She has a Bachelor Degree in Physics Sciences, and a Master in Leadership and Management of Educational Institutions. She is coming from FEDAC, where she designed and implemented a new personalised project-based learning baccalaureate. Maria has over 15 years of experience working for the IBO and she forms part of the IBEN Community where she contributes in with different roles. She is passionate about Education in all its dimensions and a demonstrated long-life learner. She believes in learning and knowledge sharing as a powerful tool to grow together as a community.

Maria has an appreciation for cultures, which makes living internationally with her family an exciting experience. Her hobbies include snorkelling, travelling and sailing.
