SIS Regensburg

A school with an active international community in the heart of Regensburg.

SIS Regensburg is the only bilingual school in Eastern Bavaria. At our school, native-speaking teachers implement the bilingual concept, bringing it to life amidst an international community. In addition, a variety of classroom projects as well as activities for mixed-age groups help shape the school day at SIS Regensburg.

Dear parents,

we are delighted about your interest in SIS Swiss International School Regensburg and welcome you to visit our campus and get to know our international bilingual school. We not only offer a respectful and engaged community but also three education levels under one roof - preschool, primary and secondary school. In our schoolhouse there are spacious class rooms, a science room, a library and a playground.

Students at all three education levels enjoy a bilingual education based on the state curriculum set forth by the Bavarian Department of Education supplemented with aspects of international education and elements that are unique to SIS. The students are taught by native speakers who communicate with the students in their respective language. We consistently adopt the philosophy of “one person, one language” which creates an ideal environment for language acquisition.

The goal for our students is to graduate from the SIS Regensburg with the German Abitur, and optionally with the International Baccalaureate (IB). In grades 11 and 12, students undergo an integrated, challenging programme which prepares them for both diplomas. The IB develops graduating secondary students not only intellectually but also emotionally and ethically. The combination of IB and Abitur ensures that our young adults are prepared to make wise choices and have virtually every opportunity open to them.

Our school day may begin very early if necessary. From 7:30 a.m. onwards, students can prepare for the day ahead in the library. When the school day begins at 8:30 a.m., students move to their classrooms, enjoy recess and lunch and end their day at 4 p.m.with the study time. They may stay for after school care until 5 p.m. There are several activities available in our After School Activity Programme (ASAP) for children who wish, or need, to stay, such as creative or physical activities.

If you are interested in the SIS Regensburg and would like a personal meeting, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. It will be my pleasure to show you the school and discuss further details.

Kind regards,
Danette Brink, Vice Principal
