Each class in our Primary School has a German-speaking and an English-speaking class teacher. These two teachers take turns teaching the children in nearly equal measure. The development of language skills in German and English is of paramount importance. This is why SIS has developed its own bilingual reading and writing curriculum. Subjects such as mathematics or social science are taught in both languages, ensuring that your children acquire a broad vocabulary.
Joined-up Learning through Project Work
Project work is an important part of our lessons at SIS Friedrichshafen. Projects in which students work together in mixed-age groups are part of the teaching strategy for many of the topics contained in Baden-Württemberg's curriculum. The objective of our math or health days, for example, is to convey the curriculum contents using diverse methods, to help students connect the dots and to strengthen the school community by working together on projects and events.
Lessons take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and school days are divided into regular intervals with time for learning, play and breaks. Our early care from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. allows children to arrive and get ready for the day. We offer homework supervision from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., your children can participate in after-school clubs, or they can read, play or rest.
The primary school at SIS Friedrichshafen is a state recognised private school. Please take note of this important information on the school's status.
