Primary 2 students recently completed their "Stone Age" unit of study. Learning began in the classroom through various media (primarily books) and hands-on activities. The students worked on their individual project of making a shadow box showing details of daily life during this time period. The students invited other year levels to visit their classroom for presentations on their shadow boxes. Creativity was on full-display, with students gathering various materials from indoors and outdoors to complete their projects. The classes then went on an excursion to the forest where they experienced first hand various aspects of of life back then: fire making, painting, tool making, gathering food, and preparing food. The topic concluded with a parent event where primary 2 families came to the classroom to have a glimpse at the stone age themselves. Photographs of the forest excursion were on display and students presented their shadow boxes. A buffet of food was prepared by the students, complete with "Stone Age Coffee" for families to enjoy.
