Holiday Club: A Place to Explore, Create and Connect

Abwechslungsreicher Unterricht Lebendige Schulgemeinschaft SIS Rotkreuz-Zug

Why do students of SIS Rotkreuz-Zug love coming to school even during the holidays? Because of our Holiday Club! It’s a week filled with fun, friends, and creativity. Discover all the exciting activities to the children enjoyed during our latest Holiday Club.

Our autumn Holiday Club was filled with outdoor adventures, shared projects, and opportunities to learn together. From exploring the local area to preparing meals, the children enjoyed a varied programme that allowed everyone to participate in their own way.

Working as a team

One of the highlights was building a marble run. The children worked together to design, build, and paint their creation which now is showcased in our hallway. They shared ideas, tested different solutions, and learned from one another along the way. Projects like these encourage problem-solving, teamwork, and perseverance while showing children how much they can achieve when they work together. Rafael (aged six) was very clear about which part of the Holiday Club he enjoyed the most: “The marble run was the best! It was so much fun to build and test it!”

Exploring the great outdoors

Autumn offered plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature. The children explored the Rotkreuz area, collected acorns for an art project, and went on an excursion to the Höllgrotten area near Baar. These outings gave everyone the chance to discover new places, get moving, and enjoy time outdoors together. Emma (aged 11) particularly enjoyed these adventures: “I love that we go somewhere every Wednesday during the holidays. I also love cooking with the supervisors!” We consider being outside a crucial part of the Holiday Club as it allows children to observe the changing seasons, ask questions, and experience nature first-hand.

Back at school, the collected acorns became little animals and people brought to life with paint and imagination. Other children made bracelets and keyrings, painted leaves, or built with wooden blocks. With a variety of activities on offer, everyone could follow their interests, try something new, or simply enjoy doing something they already love.

Learning through everyday activities

Cooking together was another important part of the week. As Emma mentioned, the students helped with cooking. Under the careful supervision of our staff, they helped prepare vegetable wraps and spaghetti pomodoro with fresh salad. These everyday experiences help children develop independence and responsibility. Measuring ingredients, preparing food, and working together also encourage cooperation and practical skills. Just as importantly, sharing meals creates space for conversation, laughter, and connection.

No child too old, too young, too shy or too energetic for our Holiday Club

Every child is different. Some love energetic outdoor games and group projects, while others prefer reading, crafts, or a quiet moment to recharge. Our flexible programme gives children of every age the freedom to choose activities that suit their interests and needs. Our aim is to create an environment where every child feels welcome, included, and comfortable being themselves.

Our Holiday Club is about more than keeping children busy during the school holidays. It offers opportunities to discover new interests, develop skills, build friendships, and make lasting memories. Sometimes the most memorable experiences are also the simplest: exploring nature, preparing a meal together, completing a shared project, or sharing a laugh with friends. Aimilia (aged 11) put it best: “When my parents are working, I don't want to sit alone at home. It's boring. Here at the Holiday Club, there is always something to do!”
