Programming with Blue Bots
SIS Kassel teaches IT in primary school
Information technology or IT is everywhere these days. Children encounter it early on, many start using a smartphone before they can read or write. But using technology and understanding it are two very different things. That is why at SIS schools, all students are taught computer skills as part of the IT Curriculum, starting in preschool and reception class. Recently, students in grade 2 at SIS Swiss International School Kassel learned about programming with the help of small robots called “Blue Bots”. Students greatly enjoyed drawing colour codes on sheets of paper. The Blue Bots “read” the code and take cues from it. The lesson’s goal was to get the little robot to a specific destination and to sequence the colour code so that it would arrive there in ten steps.
