At the beginning of the new school year, every new primary school student at SIS Berlin is assigned to one of the three houses, called Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire. All three houses have the same number of students of grades 1 to 6 and elect their house captain at the beginning of the school year. The house captains lead, coordinate and represent their houses and, with a bit of luck, receive the house cup at the last assembly before the summer holidays.
The team with the most house points wins the house cup. House points are not only earned through academic performances, but also through sports competitions, efforts in project days or in the social-ecological field. Therefore SIS Berlin offers a wealth of charitable activities, among others the Red Nose Day, the fundraising for the Spandauer Tafel, or a school building project in Kenya. Creative and physical activities take also place, our big sports day for example marks the end of the summer term. Every student summons up his last reserves of strength for the success of the own house.
