Verena Simpson
(Principal)
Verena Simpson has been the Principal of SIS Regensburg in Regenstauf since September 2011. One of her goals is to help students grow as independent, inquisitive, and self-motivated global citizens in a multicultural environment.
Mrs. Simpson’s interest in different countries and cultures was sparked by the time she spent in Great Britain as an exchange student. After completing her “Magister” in American Studies, German Studies, and Political Science at the University of Regensburg, she moved to Texas with her family. There, Mrs. Simpson taught German, English as a Second Language, and Theory of Knowledge at Killeen High School. As the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme Coordinator, she was responsible for the compliance with and implementation of the IB curriculum.
Mrs. Simpson believes that the concept “lifelong learner” applies not only to students but also to educators. In addition to her responsibilities as the IB programme coordinator, she completed a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration at Texas A&M University Central Texas. The program prepares specifically for the responsibilities and challenges of a principal.
In 2011, Mrs. Simpson moved back to the Regensburg area with her husband and her two children.
Sabine Kunst
(Head of Secondary School)
Sabine Kunst, Head of Secondary School, earned her M.A. in English Linguistics and Pedagogy, as well as two degrees in German as a Foreign Language and Speech Training from the University of Regensburg. In addition, she completed her Masters of Arts degree (with a focus on Second Language Acquisition and Bilingualism) at Arizona State University, where she studied and taught college-level German from 2002 to 2005. During that time, she found teaching to be her true passion, which led her to the decision to stay in the field of education.
From 2005 to 2008, Sabine Kunst worked for a private school teaching German, English, Literacy and Professional Orientation. She also worked as an associate lecturer for the British and American Studies Department at the University of Regensburg. In 2008, Ms. Kunst made the switch to teaching English in primary and secondary school and joined the team of SIS Regensburg (formerly run by a different organization).
Since then, she has mainly been teaching English, but also German as a Foreign Language, Performing Arts and Dance.
Tanja Landgraf
(Stufenleitung Grundschule)
Tanja Landgraf, Stufenleiterin der Grundschule, studierte in Regensburg das Lehramt an Grundschulen und in Bayreuth das Lehramt an Hauptschulen.
Nach dem zweiten Staatsexamen war sie in verschiedenen bayerischen Grund- und Hauptschulen tätig. Zusätzlich erwarb sie das Montessori-Diplom. Erfahrungen an internationalen Schulen sammelte sie sowohl auf den Bahamas als auch in Deutschland.
An der SIS Regensburg ist Frau Landgraf seit der Gründung der Schule im Jahr 2008 (damals noch unter anderer Trägerschaft) tätig. Sie lebt mit ihrem Mann und ihren beiden Kindern in Regenstauf.
Gesa Rink
(Stufenleitung Kindergarten)
Gesa Rink, Stufenleiterin des Kindergartens, ist staatlich anerkannte Erzieherin und stammt ursprünglich aus dem Norden Deutschlands.
Ihr erster längerer Auslandsaufenthalt führte sie während der Schulzeit für ein Jahr in die USA. Aus dieser Erfahrung heraus entstand der Wunsch, in einem internationalen Umfeld zu leben und zu arbeiten, den Gesa Rink während ihres insgesamt fünfjährigen Aufenthalts in Lateinamerika in die Tat umsetzte: In Costa Rica und Mexiko arbeitete sie als Erzieherin und leitet eine Sprachschule für Kinder. Zurück in Deutschland war Gesa Rink zuletzt als Leiterin einer bilingualen Einrichtung mit rund 80 Kindern in Hamburg tätig.
Gesa Rink freut sich darüber, mit ihrer langjährigen Erfahrung in der bilingualen Erziehung von Vorschulkindern dazu beitragen zu können, dass die Kinder an der SIS Regensburg von klein auf in zwei Sprachen lernen und wachsen.
